Eugene Emmanuel Karthak Joins slice as Part-time Chairman and Independent Director

Bengaluru: slice, a digital-first banking company, has appointed Eugene Emmanuel Karthak, former Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as Part-time Chairman and Independent Director on its Bank Board.

Eugene Emmanuel Karthak previously served on the board of slice’s parent company, Garagepreneurs Internet Private Limited (GIPL), before its merger into banking operations. His continued association highlights stability for slice during its crucial growth phase.

With a distinguished career spanning over three decades at the RBI, Karthak led the Information Technology and Corporate Services departments. He also served as Regional Director in Delhi and Bengaluru, where he enhanced regulatory compliance and policy implementation.

Additionally, he contributed to several high-level committees at the central bank, underlining his deep expertise in governance and policy.

Eugene Emmanuel Karthak strengthens slice’s Board

Beyond his RBI tenure, Eugene Emmanuel Karthak has held key governance roles, including serving as RBI Nominee Director on the board of Andhra Bank and as Independent Director at Jana Small Finance Bank.

Currently, he heads the Indian Institute of Bank Management, a premier national training institution supported by RBI, NABARD, and public sector banks. He also serves on the Governing Council of the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL), Mumbai.

The appointment comes as slice accelerates its mission to build an inclusive and accessible bank. Recently, the company expanded its physical presence in Bengaluru and Gurugram while introducing a UPI-based credit card.

slice has also driven financial inclusion by creating more than 400 jobs in the Northeast and extending formal banking services to underserved communities in the region.
